A Little More About Me

"Throughout my life, I have faced a number of difficult experiences such as bullying and severe head trauma, which has deeply impacted my physical and mental health. However, it is precisely because of these struggles that I felt compelled to dedicate my life to helping others who were also struggling with their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. I began my career as a youth worker, providing support and guidance to some of the most vulnerable members of our society.

Over time, I advanced in my career and became a director of a youth agency, overseeing programs, managing staff, and continuing to care for the needs of youth. I gave everything I had to serve these youth, my team, and my community, but after facing a series of physical injuries, including a long stay in the hospital and several major surgeries, I felt burnt out and knew that something needed to change.

I took some time off to focus on my own health and well-being, and it was during this time that I discovered the transformational power of Yoga. At first, I was skeptical and resistant, having preconceived notions about what Yoga was and wasn't. I found the physical practice of Yoga to be less intense compared to the sports and weightlifting I enjoyed in my youth, and I was wary of the spiritual aspects that I associated with it. But after many of my health practitioners recommended Yoga as a form of therapy, I decided to give it a try.

To my surprise, Yoga helped me to improve my physical health, breathing and sleep, and was instrumental in my mental clarity and healing from my traumatic experience. Yoga went from something that felt odd and incompatible with my worldview, to something that helped me better live out who I felt created to be.

I wanted to share these tools with others, and thus, decided to pursue my Yoga teacher training with a specialization in Yoga Therapy at the Vancouver School of Healing Arts.  Through my training, I came to appreciate the ways in which the ancient practices and teachings of Yoga align with modern scientific principles.  Learning about the history of yoga, I found what a gift the ancient people of India gave to the world.

I named my business Reclaim Harmony to reflect my desire to help others find a new sense of hope and stability in their lives, that they feel has been lost. Through my own journey, I have come to understand that people often come to Yoga with their own set of cultural and spiritual beliefs, and I believe that it is possible to honor and respect the roots of Yoga while also fully embracing and living out one's own heritage and belief structures. My goal is to offer a holistic approach, going beyond just the physical practice and encouraging a way of living that focuses on slowing down, living simply, and keeping values in mind more clearly.

I understand the struggles that people face when trying to improve their physical, mental, and spiritual health and I am here to support and guide those on their own journey towards harmony and self-care.

I am dedicated to helping individuals who are experiencing burnout, managing their mental health, and seeking relief from chronic pain. I hold a special affinity for youth and frontline workers, who tirelessly care for our communities and often neglect their own well-being. My goal is to empower and support them on their journey to optimal physical and mental health, and help them find balance and self-care."

These pictures serve as a reminder that I have made significant progress in making peace in my mind, body, and spirit and I am eager to assist others on their healing journey.  If you are interested in trying yoga therapy, let's connect and see what is possible.
